Case Study

An Entrepreneur Goes Public

Industry:

Small Business

Problem:

Getting Listed On The (TSE) Stock Exchange

Solution:

Meeting Regulatory Requirements ...

This is a company that has likely touched every Canadian directly or indirectly ... and now serves an increasingly International market. It wasn't always that way though.  This was a very focused, intentional and professionally operated enterprise that was positioned well to 'kick it up a notch' ... with the Principal ready to 'take the firm public'.

In preparing to do so, it came as a bit of a surprise to this enterprising operator that the Securities Commission would impose so many and so far reaching contingencies and regulatory requirements. The bench strength just wasn't on hand to position the company correctly, in time ... and maintain business as usual. What they needed, was some third party expertise and another set of hands 'at the bench'.  On the advise and recommendation of an RMI client ... the Entrepreneur called us aboard, and we took an initial assessment of current state vs desired state. The time frames and resource requirements ... then we quickly set to work to 'bridge the gaps'.  This was a very effective (and dare we say) efficient design, develop & delivery engagement, returning to the client:

  • Increased process improvement
  • All regulatory requirements defined and met
  • Realizing $3,000,000.00 in audited cost savings
  • Realizing $300,000.00 in audited cost avoidance
  • Reducing the operating ratio by 2%, while
  • Increasing (audited) client and employee satisfaction.

This engagement was delivered to the Securities Commission on schedule, on budget ... making for some very satisfied clients and (new) shareholders.
